Some love stories feel like they were always meant to be, like the universe quietly conspired to bring two hearts back together just when the timing was right. That’s exactly how it felt documenting Hannah and Cody’s Norfolk Botanical Garden engagement session! The blooms were showing off, the light was golden and soft, and their connection? Pure magic. It was romantic, joyful, and full of the kind of quiet sweetness that comes from years of growing up, growing apart, and then growing together again. Ohhh and a little fun fact: Hannah and I did grow up legit next to each other our whole lives!!
A College Connection That Came Full Circle
Hannah and Cody met on day one of college, literally! They sat next to each other in class in August of 2017. Probably not knowing just how much that simple moment would shape the rest of their lives. They felt the spark early on, but it took until February of 2021 to truly settle into their love. In those three and a half years between meeting and reconnecting, life taught them a lot. They explored who they were on their own, only to find themselves pulled back together again, stronger, clearer, and so sure of each other.
When they reunited in the spring of ’21, it wasn’t just butterflies or the thrill of a crush. It was steady. Safe. Right. The kind of love you feel deep in your chest, like home. They graduated college, moved in together, and never looked back, because when you know, you just know! And watching them laugh, twirl, and walk hand-in-hand through the Norfolk Botanical Garden was proof that their story was built on something real and lasting.
The Softest Spring Glow at Norfolk Botanical Garden
From the dreamy fountains to the winding garden paths, Norfolk Botanical Garden delivered hard on the romance. Everything was in bloom, and I mean everything! We’re talking pastel petals, lush greenery, and just the right amount of golden-hour magic. Hannah wore two looks: a flirty short dress with floral textures and a longer lace gown that floated behind her like a bridal daydream. Cody kept things timeless in a crisp white shirt and tan slacks, but let’s be honest, it was the way he looked at her that made the whole thing feel cinematic.
These two were playful and lighthearted, with just enough tenderness to melt your heart. Whether they were wrapped up in each other’s arms or running barefoot through the grass (okay not really barefoot, but it felt that carefree!), they made everything feel effortless. And can we talk about those cherry blossoms? Swoon. If spring had a soundtrack, it would’ve been playing in the background the whole time we shot!
