There’s something about a fall St. Augustine wedding that feels like pure magic, and Sonya and Adam’s day was exactly that. Crisp golden air, a soft bay breeze, and the kind of laughter that makes your cheeks hurt. I had the joy of photographing their engagement session in D.C. (which you can peek at here), so to come full circle and capture their wedding day too? Ugh, just the best feeling ever. These two know how to make a wedding feel beautifully intimate and completely them laid-back, stylish, heartfelt, and oh-so-candid!
Getting Ready For Their Dream Wedding
The morning was slow and soft in the best way. Sonya and Adam got ready in separate rooms overlooking the coast, with their closest people buzzing around, champagne flutes in hand, sunlight pouring in like a gentle spotlight. Sonya wore a modern white jumpsuit for the first part of the day (a look we are still talking about), and then changed into the sleekest long-sleeved gown with a deep-V neckline and an open back that felt both elegant and entirely her. The whole space felt calm like everyone was holding their breath in the most excited way. There were happy tears, coffee on the porch, and deep breaths before “I do.”
Their ceremony took place right along the waterfront with the breeze off the bay gently fluttering through a handmade floral arch. The florals felt perfectly fall, soft creams, rust tones, and dried textures that blended with the warm October sun. Friends and family gathered in cozy chairs, wrapped in light sweaters, fully present for the moment. One of my favorite parts? The look on Adam’s face the second he saw Sonya. No words, just emotion. The kind that catches in your throat and wells up in your eyes. They read vows, laughed through them, and held hands like it was the only thing tethering them to earth!
Beautiful Portraits & Reception
After the ceremony, we wandered the property for portraits, and the way the golden hour light hit? Unreal. Sonya’s veil caught the sun like a soft whisper and Adam (yes, in his suit and sneakers!) couldn’t stop grinning at her. Every photo from this part of the day feels like it belongs in a movie one of those romantic indie films with the perfect soundtrack and the best ending. Their wedding party was full of style, joy, and so much personality. Velvet dresses, mixed neutrals, and a crew that felt like true family. They made every part of the day fun from getting ready shenanigans to group hugs after the ceremony!
Their reception space was cozy and modern, filled with amber-toned linens, soft candlelight, and florals in terracotta and cream. Guests danced under string lights, toasted with happy tears, and filled the night with stories, laughter, and more dancing. One moment that sticks with me forever? Sonya and Adam’s first dance elegant, sweet, and then it turned hilarious halfway through when they broke into giggles and just went with it. That’s who they are. Romantic but never too serious. Stylish but never stiff. They made their day feel like them, through and through.
