This was my third official year photographing this Mexican retreat for Fit Queen Irene and her students! I usually am terrible at remembering to blog this trip, or having enough personal content to do so. But this year I was so inspired that I knew I needed to share IT ALL! Now as I stare at the completed page, I couldn’t be happier I took the time to just shoot, just explore and to live a little more (ayyy rhyming).
This trip every year somehow always seems to fall at the right time, with the right people, carrying the right lessons. This trip we’ve cried from laughing way too often. We’ve talked about real things, like real problems, hard things, and things you shouldn’t have to face on your own. It’s like somehow these people understand the same pain and strive to feel the same happiness and self acceptance. I feel like the entire trip this overlying message of we are all the same, we all have been broken and we are all striving to better versions of ourselves. Something that is something we can never work on or understand enough.
During our final evening class tonight, in meditation, we were asked to focus and think about what the next three years of our lives will look like. What do we want? Then we were to lay out action steps to get there. It was like in that moment I couldn’t think of a thing. During normal meditation my mind races, but in that moment it was only blank. In this current moment I am still not sure where I’ll be or where I want to be in three years, but what I know is that I do want all of these new friends to be involved. I know I don’t want this trip to be the last time I see their faces or here their laughs. So here’s to booking plane tickets and catching up. Sharing memes and turning to each other when things get tough.
Be sure to check out the sweetest souls who I experienced these two weeks with!
Claire Mangano, Andrea Stuart, Giorgia Bazzoli, Tarra Dahlke, Hannah , Garry Capko, Julia Richter, Nessa
In between all the yoga we some how managed to squeeze in a mini couples session and I am MILDLY OBSESSED! These are two of the sweetest and most in love (like that fun goofy kind) people you’ll ever meet!
And then back to way more yoga and forcing Irene to do a few lifestyle shots in between 😉
During this trip we had two full day excursions! One being to visit the beautiful city of Tulum! The last two years that I have been on this trip I have never taken the opportunity to actually join the others and go, but this time I was not passing it up! This city is full of such color and culture! I think my favorite part was that the ABSOLUTE best scenes you could see here were tucked away. It was like walking the streets, turning down a small alley or opening a strange door (don’t freak mom) and being exposed to some of the prettiest, most breathtaking hideaways I’d ever seen! Besides just the beautiful colors of Tulum, the small and quaint city of Puerto Morelos (where we stayed) had plenty of color as well. Every year I’ve visited I have always said “this city is my color,” simply because it’s filed with vibrant hues and yellow house galore! Even if only for this reason, it steals my heart. Yet it’s one of the places I have ever felt the safest while traveling!
