When picking your wedding venue, it is so important to not only imagine it during your dream sunny and 75 day, but also a rainy one. You aren’t guaranteed good weather on your wedding. You can guarantee less stress and a just as stunning day if you prioritize a venue that handles rain well, though! It’s always important to have a backup plan and prepare for bad weather. Because it’s so important, I wanted to get into topics that you should discuss with your wedding photographer going into a rainy wedding day, so let’s get into it!

1 – Discuss Areas of The Venue You Love With Your Photographer

If your wedding photographer has never been to your venue, don’t worry! As professionals we typically arrive earlier to the venue to scout out locations, problems solve, etc. It may be helpful for you to discuss areas of the venue or property that you love, primarily with overhang or coverage with your photographer. This way we can prepare in the event it does rain! If you’ve seen rainy wedding day photos that you love, share those with your photographer! This will help give us an idea of what you’re looking for in the event that it rains!

2 – Whose Going to Bring The Umbrellas?

As a seasoned pro, I tend to carry 20-25 clear umbrellas in trunk at all times. So, if you work with me as your wedding photographer, you won’t have to worry about this. I do this because it’s important to me to make my clients days as easy and care free as possible! I use these umbrellas multiple times a year. They always come in handy with helping to ease those rainy day wedding nerves. It’s so important that you ensure you have umbrellas at the wedding. Make sure you discuss this or check to make sure your photographer has some on hand! My favorite place to get umbrellas in bulk for cheap is Umbrella Bazaar!

3 – Discuss Your Comfortability of Rain in Regards to Your Rainy Wedding Day Photos

If you aren’t someone whose willing to get the bottom of your dress a little dirty to achieve those stunning and dramatic photos with your venue in the background, then let your photographer know! This ensures they can make a game plan and know where they may need more time allotted for your photos, etc. The rain doesn’t have to stop you from getting some great outdoor photos. It can just make getting them slightly more challenging.

4 – Ask Your Photographer to See Past Rainy Wedding Day Galleries!

It’s so important to ask your photographer to see a past full rainy day wedding gallery. This can help show you that they are fully capable of shooting and delivering a great wedding gallery that is equal to a sunny day. This will also help to take your anxiety away about your wedding photos! At the end of the day, we can’t control the weather, but we can control whether or not your photographer is prepared for rainy wedding day photos, so ask to see those galleries!
