Last week I had the opportunity to travel with Karena Dixon Photography to shoot a wedding in Charleston, SC! Karena has always been a huge influence in my life and is an even bigger influence when it comes to photography. I mean she did teach me photography (hence why I call her photo mom).

I was so excited when she agreed to bring me along and even more excited when she told me the location of the wedding. I didn’t know much about the venue itself, but what i did know is that it was on the same street where a scene from The Notebook was filmed! What!

Since we were traveling for work we didn’t have as much time as we would like to explore. But, the time we did have was spent well. Like stopping and experiencing what it meant when the “lights on” at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts!  Um, life changed! These images can’t even come close to the actual experience and taste of these donuts!

Our last day in Charleston was an adventure. As always, with Karena and I! The fun Charleston wedding the day before kicked our butts! Because of this, we overslept three hours! Even though we were three hours behind schedule we weren’t willing to sacrifice our downtown Charleston time. So, we hurried to get ready and drove down to battery park in Charleston. The views were amazing and the buildings did not disappoint! Everyone always sees the perfectly framed and edited pictures of Charleston on Instagram but, let me tell you, it looks just as perfect in person. If not, better!

Our very last stop before leaving town was, of course, COFFEE! The only thing strong enough to fuel our 10 hour drive home. I’m not sure if it was the lack of sleep, the way the Carolina air smelled or how cute this cafe was but, this was most likely the best coffee I have ever tasted!

If you get a chance to visit Charleston make sure to pop in to Bakehouse for a quick visit, or three!

Charleston, I love you. I’ll see you again soon.
