A week ago, Luke and I had the chance to be on the other side of the camera. Earlier this summer we won an adventure session giveaway with one of my favs, Rebekah Viola.
Having pictures with my person was an emotional experience for me. Luke and I have been through a lot both individually and together. We are neighbors now, so I get to basically end and start every day with him. It’s been a transition, and it’s been crazy and we wouldn’t trade any of it for anything.
We wanted our session to represent us as a whole. We both LOVE being on the beach (although Luke despises the sand, so I don’t understand that for him haha) and love sweets. So a bonfire on the beach was perfection. I think the added bonus for me was how much this boy loves blue hour. He always told me his favorite time of day was between the sun set and full darkness, which us photogs call blue hour. And the sun set so fast this day that it happened to be the timing we took photos which made it that much more intimate and unique.
The planning and packing and trying to make this session extra special taught me a lot about my services and what I want to offer others. It changed the way I viewed photos, and now receiving these back reminds me of how truly special it is to document stages of your life.
