Snowed In!

For Photogs

January 24, 2016

I am sitting here, in my office taking a quick break from editing for the day and taking a moment to pour a little bit of my heart out! As most of us know, the east coast had a huge blizzard this weekend named Jonas! I would like to start by personally thanking Jonas for everything he (or she) has taught me while being snowed in to my own apartment for 2 days straight, and still at least one more to go!

Being snowed in makes you think a lot, ESPECIALLY if you don’t have power for 11 hours straight and all your “to do’s” were thrown right out the window because you need wifi and electric for your desktop. After occupying my time with writing hand written thank you cards and scrubbing my apartment from top to bottom, I began to think a lot about my business. In 2015 I sacrificed a lot. A lot of time, a lot of personal health and a lot of slowing down.

I love that being stuck inside forces us to take a second and slow down in life. Yesterday seemed like one of the longest days of my life with nothing to do for 11 hours, but in reality I need more of that. I need more of appreciating where I am right now, in this moment and to stop always skipping the present because of being worried for the future.

Last year I didn’t take time to take care of my self. Why? Because those hours prepping my food for the week or exercising for an hour a day were spent editing and shooting! In my mind if every awaken hour wasn’t spent doing something for my business then I wasn’t going to be successful! The truth is you don’t have to give up everything to be something!

I hope that you’ll take this time to appreciate exactly where you are, and how far you have come! I hope that you’ll take a few moments, even if it is juts minutes, to appreciate yourself and everything you can do and to not compare yourself or your lifestyle to those of others! Lets get real, we are all human. We all make mistakes. Sometimes we over commit. At times we take advantage, but not a single one of us is perfect.
